In this position...
You will have global responsibilities leading corporate design and verification strategy for in-house axle designs, manufacturing best practices, and support issue resolution. You will also be responsible for verification strategy of externally purchased transfer cases, power take off units, driveshafts, and half shafts. You will be interacting with gear prototype operations, gear manufacturing, systems engineering, external suppliers, and vehicle NVH to achieve these goals.
You'll have...
Bachelor’s or Master’s of Science/Engineering
· 10+ years of experience with axle and driveline system design and bringing those products to market.
· Effective knowledge of axle/driveline manufacturing process, metallurgy and heat treatment.
· Self-directed, excellent people and communications skills.
· Be able to lead a diverse team from many organizations to resolve issues.
· Some travel to supplier or Ford assembly plants may be required

· 12+ years of axle and driveline system design
· Gear manufacturing and Gear NVH resolution experience
· Advanced problem solving skill (Black Belt Certified preferred)

What you'll do...
· Perform axle and driveline system hardware reviews and assessments throughout the development process
· Develop and author requirements, define system and component robustness/ reliability demonstration methods and targets
· Lead problem solving investigations to resolve durability, reliability, and NVH concerns.
· Optimize energy losses while maintaining durability and NVH robustness.
· Signoff responsibility for axle and driveline components/assemblies at program milestones. Review and approve all FMA documentation (DVP, Boundary, DFMEA, Design Rules etc.).
· Mentoring and training all things axle and driveline
· Collaborate with industry experts for continuous learning and best practices
· Work with manufacturing engineering on continuous FTT and quality improvement
· Develop and implement new design process methodologies and analytical tools
