DuPont is seeking an innovative and experienced Technical Manager to join our Emerging Technologies (ET) organization within DuPont Electronics and Industrials. This critical role will report to the Global R&D Leader for Emerging Technologies and is responsible for executing early-stage development, supporting growth initiatives, and developing new capabilities across a diverse portfolio of R&D projects.

The ET organization focuses on key growth platforms including Semiconductor Solutions, Dielectric Materials, Thermal Management, Optical Materials, and Healthcare. As a Technology Manager, you will lead a team of talented scientists, engineers, and technologists in the development of advanced materials and formulations. You will employ a lean and agile approach, continuously evaluating projects against 3-6 month proof points to determine necessary adjustments in resourcing and project direction.

In this role, you will play an essential role in advancing our strategic initiatives across various business units and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence within your team.

Key Role Activities

The Emerging Technologies Manager has the following key roles and responsibilities:

Be a visible leader for the ET team at ESL

Build an inclusive, high-performance team culture.

Understand the technologies underpinning each E&I business product line and the DuPont Innovation Platforms that are central to E&I.

Drive execution on delivering a diverse set of technology programs, aligned with E&I top programs and strategic growth platforms. 

Strong cross-functional communication and alignment with key business stakeholders

Establishes fast-learning and rapid prototyping competencies that enable quick assessment of new technologies and the transition from early-stage PCF to business units.

Develop a dynamic and motivated team that can deliver on the above.  Provides coaching and employee development to help the team grow and develop.  Have an impact on the growth of E&I.

Recognize emerging trends and analytical needs by connecting with internal business and leveraged groups, external customers, and external analytical tools and service providers.

Maintain an ET Capability Strategy to renew technical expertise, equipment, and facilities as strategy and programs evolve.

Own the safety culture, process safety, and understand/manage all relevant safety protocols (MOC) required for researchers

ACCOUNTABILITIES – To Ensure:

Drive R&D project success by ensuring that proper program proof points, milestones and deliverables are clearly outlined and executed by project teams.  Drive the use of learning plans and lean innovation practices to effectively execute against critical items. 

Ensuring a robust IP strategy and rigorous documentation protocol aligned with businesses.

Effectively lead project teams in collaboration with BU technical, marketing, manufacturing, legal, and commercial leadership to drive produce/application development and business impact.  Identify and resolve potential areas of risk during the development phase of projects.

Understand the E&I product portfolio, product line, and innovation strategy

Support the ET R&D Leader in maintaining and continuously renewing a 3-5-year strategy for developing key capabilities across the ET organization. This strategy includes developing a talent pipeline of key Subject Matter Experts in critical areas, targeting CAPEX planning and execution, and developing key relationships with external organizations (tool vendors, industry consortia, universities, government agencies, key suppliers).

In collaboration with respective site leadership teams, own the safety culture and all other DuPont Core Values for the ET organization. Ensure that company safety culture/ protocols are understood and supported by all ET personnel.

Lead and develop teams and individuals consistent with the above activities and foster a collaborative and inclusive innovation environment.

ROLE (JOB) SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or a related field

Minimum of 5 years in product research and development with a successful customer engagement and product development record

Effective communication and influence skills with a proven aptitude for inspiring and leading others

Experience with product commercialization framework (PCF) and lean innovation is highly desirable

Demonstrated ability to work well with colleagues across geographic regions and business functions

Demonstrated leadership and strong knowledge of laboratory safety practices and product stewardship

EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES

The role will require general knowledge of electronic materials used in the consumer, advanced data center, semiconductor, and industrial markets.

Knowledge and experience in materials and DOE methodology are preferred.

Proven track record of Program Management experience for developing new products and/or application development with engaged customers on an accelerated time scale.

Strong interpersonal effectiveness and customer interaction capability is required

Experience managing in a fast-paced change working environment. 

Strong technical and interpersonal skills, along with a high level of initiative and problem solving are required to be successful in this role.

Capable of managing programs with high technical and market uncertainty

Experience in developing and executing intellectual property strategies

Experience in managing capital equipment and infrastructure
