About the teamThe Payments organization owns some of Stripe’s most critical payment flows and a platform that processes hundreds of billions of dollars in payments a year. Our team partners closely with Payments Engineering teams in APAC to build tooling and automate processes that scale operations with Stripe’s increasing payment volume. We also work with internal teams and financial partners to improve data pipelines and reporting, helping ensure that Stripe’s financial data is accurate, timely, and reliable.
What you’ll do Responsibilities Conduct analysis to understand the source of financial data problems, making changes to mitigate and prevent similar shaped problems in future. Build data pipelines to facilitate the delivery of reports for our regulatory reporting partners. Create data visualization tools, and communicate insights to internal stakeholders. Navigate Stripe’s codebase and internal systems to understand behavior, and implement configuration and code changes to address issues or deliver new requirements. Collaborate with Stripe’s partners across the world to drive alignment between their products and how Stripe uses them, and hold Stripe’s partners accountable to resolve day-to-day operational breakages. Independently scope systematic ways to automate or eliminate manual processes and drive cross-functional initiatives to successful conclusions. Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast paced setting. Minimum requirements Have 2+ years professional experience in a Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Technical Operations, Business Intelligence, Partner Solutions Engineering, or similar role (excluding internships). Expertise using SQL and working with data warehouses to perform analysis and generate data visualization tools. Ability to write high quality code. Although you’ll spend more time working with data, issues at Stripe can involve crossing system boundaries, and you’ll have more impact if you’re comfortable reading other’s code and contributing changes. Comfort with developer tools (e.g. git). Experience with accounting, financial reporting, and/or compliance domains. Great technical problem-solving skills, with an ability to develop a working understanding of a technical system using a variety of methods. These include reading/writing code, reading documentation or partner specifications, running debugging programs, reading logs, asking well-formed questions to domain experts, or digging into the raw data through various interfaces. Great communication skills, with an ability to frame messages appropriately for technical and non-technical audiences as well as documenting problems, solutions and processes for future reference and knowledge sharing. A strong interest in understanding the root cause of issues and delivering on the long-term solution. Preferred qualifications Hands-on experience building and debugging data pipelines. Experience deploying LLMs to automate operational workloads. Professional fluency in Japanese, both written and verbal.
