The Technical Broker oversees day-to-day placement and broking responsibilities including business relationships with producers, client advocates and markets; provides expertise on difficult-to-place business; conducts contract reviews; negotiates with underwriters regarding coverage terms, conditions and pricing on new and existing programs; evaluates quotes, prepares marketing reports; manages pro-forma analysis information and distribution; assists teams with RFP and new business proposal development, and performs other duties as assigned.
The Role
Complete Risk Assessment and Definition. Review and validation of risk underwriting information. Determine required benchmarking based on client desires, broking and retention strategies. Define and design the optimal risk program and structure. Prepare proposals, calculate premium and issue quote. Process claims information to produce claims projections and studies to design and analyse different deductibles scenarios. Prepare risk inspection and verification reports, including their identification and quantification. Conduct client meeting(s) with market(s). Deliver broking advice to Clients. Submission and requests to market generation. Obtain long list of quotes from carriers. Prepare benchmarking analyses of market quotes. Work closely with CRMs to solve specific customer problems and identify opportunities to increase the value of the insurance programme and services quality. Align with relevant partners / carriers and coordinate market responses and proposals with other teams involved in RFPs / bid management. Technical support to S&CS. Responsible for Broking Platform data loading. Contractual document preparation (offers to client, policy check). Complete surplus lines filings, fee & tax payments, and report consistently.Requirements
3 years of insurance experience in a market facing or underwriting role required; Property and Casualty license required. Technical insurance skills to apply knowledge of coverage forms in analysis of program design, identification of coverage gaps and ongoing coverage consultation. Demonstrated excellence in interpreting, analysing and presenting models in a logical, systematic way. Ability to leverage internal and external relationships to bring WTW resources and assets tailored to client needs. Demonstrated ability to develop innovative and creative solutions to do complex deals, drive consensus across internal and external stakeholders to close deals. Solid presentation skills (written and oral); ability to drive complex/technical conversations and engage at executive level. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (i.e., pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc.); spreadsheet creation / manipulation a plus. Ability to deal with difficult client and market situations. Receptive to feedback: critical thinking and problem-solving skills; high adaptability.
