Technical Product Owner/Manager

The Position

In the role of Product Owner for Cloud Secure Account Management you will be responsible for setting, prioritizing, and accepting the work generated by an agile engineering team. The product is both highly strategic and technical and must adhere to strict regulatory and compliance requirements. It combines the provisioning of secure and compliant cloud accounts, with an integration into the cybersecurity framework, and the distribution of hardened AMIs and other services to all accounts within the organisation.
It plays a key global role in Roche digital transformation and acceleration of future digital products.

As the Product Owner Cloud Solutions, you will:

Support and evangelise a culture that values product excellence, you will work to evangelize a healthy product development lifecycle within the Roche Engineering Community

Partner with product management which is focusing on strategic roadmapping and alignment amongst organizations consuming the product, to develop and communicate product vision and roadmap

Partner with the architects, compliance, quality, engineering, ops and cybersecurity teams on the enablement work needed.

Act as a customer proxy responsible for working with product development teams and other stakeholders to define and prioritize features and user stories.

Facilitate communication between teams and stakeholders to ensure transparency and manage expectations effectively.

Participate in regular agile ceremonies to convey customer needs that translate into actionable work items. 

Draft team objectives for next iteration increments to optimize the flow of work.

Inspect and adapt the implementation process in order to increase quality of the program, including assessment of metrics and evaluation of business value achieved.

Balance workload between operations, bug fixes and feature enhancements

Liaise with horizontal functions including SRE, Quality, Security, PMO… that will support your delivery

Coordinate escalations in scope of the team

Ensure continuous improvement and compliance with our delivery strategy

Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure alignment on the product vision and priorities.

Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation within the cloud infrastructure as code and security space.

Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with product development, compliance, and implementation.

Develop contingency plans to address potential setbacks or challenges.

Advocate for user-centric design principles and ensure that the user experience is prioritized in product development.

Collect and analyze user feedback to inform improvements and future features.

Monitor expenses and optimize spending to stay within budgetary constraints.

Ensure thorough documentation of product features, functionalities, and workflows.

Provide training and support to teams and end-users to facilitate effective adoption and utilization of the product.

You have a University degree or equivalent in computer science, engineering, or other related fields. Experience working in a multicultural environment and proven cultural awareness. Experience in the diagnostics and pharmaceutical industry or other highly regulated industries like finance or insurance seen as highly advantageous.  

Furthermore, you bring:

Comfortable at facilitating technical software engineering and DevOps discussions

Very good overall understanding of cloud technologies

Good understanding and proven experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum or SAFe preferred)

Understanding and experience with modern software development processes and release cycles (CI/CD, GitOps, …)

Experience in aligning a team towards common goals and delivery timelines

Analytical and problem-solving skills, discipline and attention to details

A deep drive to remove friction from existing processes, and the ability to listen actively

Overall understanding of how technologies integrate together in a growing ecosystem: AWS, AWS services, GitLab, Splunk, Dome9, Vault, Grafana, etc.

Overall understanding of software engineering DevSecOps best practices

2+ years experience with software product management/product ownership.

3+ years experience with architecture, development or operations of internet-scale SaaS products.

Experience with Amazon AWS is a strong plus.

Experience with product delivery in regulated industries with good understanding of compliance topics such as information security and design control is a strong plus.

Preferably experience with the healthcare sector including regulations and controls such as HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO 27001, GDPR, etc.

Experience with agile principles including Kanban and Scrum.

Consulting, negotiation and influencing skills, advanced English skills, analytical and abstracting skills and an attitude in order to solve problems.
