Job Summary:

The Technical Publications Supervisor is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work of the both the internal Technical Publications Technical Writers, Project Managers, Product Support Engineer, as well as overseeing the deliverable of the outsource vendors used.  Creating product support documentation including, but not limited to, Component Maintenance Manuals, Component Maintenance Procedures, Service Bulletins, Provisioning Data, and engineering documents such as Acceptance Test Procedures and Reports, and Component Engineering Drawings.  The Technical Publications Supervisor will provide guidance and support to ensure adherence to Crane’s policies and procedures, as well as adherence to industry and customer standards. The Technical Publications Supervisor is accountable for working cross-functionally with Engineering, Repair and Overhaul, Supply Chain, Suppliers, Customers, and Finance.  This position requires expert knowledge of industry standards, practices and procedures related to product support maintenance documentation.

Essential Functions:

Provide leadership to assigned staff and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Responsible for overall staffing to assure all work is completed on schedule and meets internal and external customer expectations.

Establish priorities to ensure timely delivery of publications, and documents to internal and external users.

Drive continuous improvement in systems, methods, and process to ensure the TechPubs team is operating efficiently and effectively in accordance with internal and external requirements.

Responsible for producing results consistent with the company strategic and operating plans.

Hire and develop a skilled, technically proficient, and motivated team.

Plan, organize and lead multiple projects including oversight of scheduling preparation.

Provide technical oversight of assigned work.

Ensure standardization of products and processes.

Implement quality control processes to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and readability of all technical documents.

Any other task assigned by your supervisor or management.

Minimum Qualifications:

 E xperience: 10+ years related experience in aerospace technical publications. 3+ years of experience as a lead or supervisor.

Education: Associates Degree or equivalent in a science or technology field.

K nowledge: Working knowledge of Aerospace specifications and standards governing data development and delivery. Working knowledge of common Technical Publication processes, including revision and version control protocols; and formal document change methods.  Expertise in technical writing principles and best practices.

S kills/Abilities: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in documentation. Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accurate technical documentation.  Well-developed interpersonal skills for collaborating with many internal customers, often under the pressure of schedule deadlines. Excellent computer skills. Experience with FrameMaker, and MS Office applications.

Knowledge of S1000D

Be willing to shift core office hours, or work from home, to support time-critical direct communication with offshore resources.

Standard office environment

Work requires substantial visual concentration on detail

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust, or fumes.

May be required to travel up to 5%

Top Benefits:

Salary range: $112,800.00 to $142,500.00. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
