Job Description We are seeking a Technical Purchaser to join our clients Purchasing Department on a permanent basis. Based in Southampton, UK, this role plays a key part in ensuring our clients vessels are supplied with authorized stores, spare parts, and services in line with the company’s quality and purchasing policies. Key Responsibilities: Receive requisitions from assigned vessels and obtain approval from the Technical or Marine Superintendent. Source and liaise with global vendors, negotiating pricing, delivery terms, and lead times. Issue purchase orders and track deliveries or services to ensure timely completion. Verify delivery notes or service reports against vendor invoices and coordinate with Accounts for payment processing. Conduct cost reduction projects, optimize supplier relationships, and minimize procurement risks. Assist with other procurement-related duties as needed. Requirements: Academic or professional qualifications in procurement and supply chain management. Minimum of 3 years of experience as a purchaser in the shipping industry or a relevant field. Experience working with global vendors and a strong awareness of costs and quality standards. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with procurement software (e.g., Shipnet, DNVGL, NS5). Strong communication, negotiation skills, and a positive, self-driven attitude.
