Career Opportunity
The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking two Technical Records Specialist 1s to assist in the registration and processing of Idaho tax records in individual income tax and permitted accounting. The successful candidate will be a self-starter who is familiar with solving problems, gathering information and interpreting laws, rules, and regulations then explaining them to others within the office environment. Training for processing tax returns is available on the job with the goal of eventually training others.
Responsibilities:
+ Gather information, make decisions, resolve problems, and respond to inquiries
+ Utilize independent judgment and discretion as to the methods, policies, and procedures used to complete assignments
+ Conduct involved searches, which may require accessing and selecting multiple information sources or contact with taxpayers, vendors, or outside sources to obtain information
+ Interpret or determine compliance with tax rules, regulations, statutes, and/or program policies and procedure
+ Interpret, explain requirements, processes, and procedures to others, internal and external
+ Review, evaluate, correct, and process records, payments, and/or documents
+ Access, maintain, and update manual and/or computerized records systems and develop reports
+ Communicate with taxpayers and/or preparers by telephone, email, and/or other written correspondence
Minimum Qualifications:
At least 6 months of experience in each of the following areas:
+ Monitoring a records system to identify and correct errors
+ Researching a variety of sources to resolve problems
+ Interpreting, explaining and applying regulations, laws, or complex policies to carry out assignments
+ Entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system
