Technical Safety Engineer
Technical Safety Engineers are responsible for general ad hoc technical safety support to both Operations and Projects with a focus on Major Accident Hazards and related risk management.

The Technical Safety function offers facilitation/assistance in a wide range of risk assessments, including HAZID/HAZOP and other workshops, as well as supporting Noble’s overall Barrier Management Strategy. Technical Safety assists in guiding the company in safety initiatives with the basis in technical barriers. This includes developing performance standards and defining assurance activities, together with our core of Technical Authorities, the offshore crews, our maintenance functions and dealing with reviews and audits from external authorities and independent verifiers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop and implement requirements relating to HSE Case development, barrier management, including bowtie analysis, performance standards and associated verification activitiesSupport and drive development of design safety philosophiesFacilitate and provide input to hazard studies and assessments (HAZID/HAZOP/FMEA) and lead discussions with disciplinesAssist in the contracting of, conduct and quality control of Risk analyses (QRA, bowtie, LOPA, fire and explosion, etc.)Drive quality and continuous improvements in safety solutions.Lead in managing review comments from Certifying Authority /Regulatory bodies on Technical Safety.Participate in development of projects in relation to existing units as well as new buildings.Can act as team leader for other tech safety engineers overseeing timely completion and quality of work.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor or Master’s Degree in a safety or engineering discipline, or has a similar level of competence obtained by working experienceHas a minimum of six years of experience working with technical safety.Is proactive and self-driven.Is strongly result-oriented, capable of working independently as well as in teams and has a logical approach to problem solving and naturally supports knowledge sharing.Can make sound decisions in a collaborative approach.Is fluent in written and spoken English.Must be able to travel worldwide, occasionally at short notice and with unclear return dates, e.g. for facilitating Risk Assessments, Hazop/Hazid/FMEcA, Barrier Management workshops with clients or crew.Holds, or is able to obtain, necessary medical clearance and courses required to visit offshore drilling rigs worldwide to carry out tasks in the most flexible way
