Summary
Bering Global Solutions, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Technical Security Engineer to serve as an IRS Security Engineer Subject Matter Expert (SME). The position works independently or as a member of a team under government direction, supporting business operations related to IRS security requirements and documentation. The incumbent performs duties relating directly to security documentation, requirements development, and engineering, requiring independent decision-making for tasks such as security project documentation development, requirements decomposition, and compliance with IRS security policies.
ResponsibilitiesESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Requirements Development and Decomposition:
Develop, decompose, and manage IRS security and privacy requirements in compliance with federal standards and IRS-specific needs.
• Security Documentation Development:
Create and maintain essential security documentation, including System Security Plans (SSP), Information Security Contingency Plans (ISCP), Interconnection Documents (ICD), Configuration Management Plans, and other critical security project documents.
• Security Engineering and Architecture:
Utilize knowledge of security engineering to support secure architecture and implementation within IRS systems, aligning with IRS IRM, NIST, ISO 27001-2, and other industry frameworks.
• Agile Project Management:
Collaborate in Agile environments to integrate and manage security requirements throughout project lifecycles, following best practices and IRS-specific guidelines.
• Communication and Documentation:
Prepare, present, and review technical documentation on security requirements, policies, and best practices for both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and compliance.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum Necessary) Qualifications (applies to both this section and KSAO’s)
• Experience and Skillset:
• 10+ years of experience in security and privacy engineering, with specialized knowledge of IRS security policies, procedures, and standards.
• 10+ years in developing security and privacy requirements and security documentation, such as SSP, ISCP, ICD, and Configuration Management Plans.
• 2-5 years of experience developing and managing security requirements in Agile environments.
• Proficiency in IRS IRM, NIST, ISO 27001-2, and other regulatory frameworks governing information security and compliance.
• Advanced communication skills with the ability to present complex security concepts to diverse audiences.
• Education and Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• IAM/IAT Level II or similar certification preferred.

The job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
