Technical Service Consultant

The Chemours Company is seeking a Technical Service Consultant to join our European Technical Center (ETC) team in Meyrin, Switzerland. The position reports to the Global Technical Service Manager located at the Chemours Discovery Hub (CDH) in Newark, Delaware, USA. The Technical Service Consultant will be responsible for leading technical development programs and providing support for the melt processable fluoropolymer portfolio to customers and other value chain partners in the European region. This effort includes developing strong relationships with our partners to provide technical direction on fluoropolymer selection and use of these materials in a wide range of applications. The Technical Service Consultant will work with specialized equipment at ETC to process materials, prototype novel solutions, and utilize or otherwise define test methods to measure material properties and performance. Close collaboration with regional technical service teams in North America and the Asia Pacific is required, as are collaborations with other global teams such as sales, marketing, supply chain, manufacturing, and R&D. **The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:** + Leading programs to collect end-use performance data, either from customers or from internally conducted tests. + Developing new product applications, both in conjunction with customers and other value chain partners, as well as with internal teams at Chemours. + Proactively assisting customers with technical inquiries, material selection, and troubleshooting or optimization of their processes. This work includes hands-on processing at ETC labs as well as at customer facilities. It also requires collection and interpretation of analytical information to address quality concerns. + Collaborating with a global team of scientists to support technical needs and material evaluations. Maintaining close connections with manufacturing technology and operations personnel to support projects and initiatives. + Active contributor to the development of next generation products aligned with customer and market needs. + Developing and/or maintaining technical bulletins, literature, and reports. + Gathering competitive intelligence. + First order process-related activities for products. + Defining resources needed for success and working with leadership to prioritize needs. + Establishing and practicing procedures for safe lab operation. + Serve as a mentor and role model for colleagues. **To be qualified for this role, you** **_must_** **possess the following:** + MS/PhD degree in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or similar, or a minimum of 10 years' experience working in the fluoropolymer processing industry. + Experience working with thermopolymers and/or thermoplastics. + Strong adherence to Chemours values of Safety, Integrity, Partnership, Ownership and Respect. + Strong interpersonal relationship skills. + Fluent in French and English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills – ability to present technical concepts, data, and processing guidance in an articulate and organized manner. Requires customer interaction. + Ability to collaborate with colleagues at all levels in the organization while creating and maintaining a respectful work environment. + Self-motivated, with strong organizational skills to independently complete tasks and to also work well in a team environment. + Flexibility to travel within the region up to 30% of time, ability to travel internationally as needed. **The following skill sets are** **_preferred_** **by the business unit:** + >5 years experience in a technical role supporting the fluoropolymer processing industry. + Expertise in fluoropolymer extrusion and molding applications including wire coating, injection molding, transfer molding, compression molding, tube extrusion, and/or compounding. + Experience with wire, cable, tubing, and/or wrappings for the LAN, aerospace, automotive, electronics, and/or oil and gas markets. + Working knowledge of other European languages (German most favorably).
