Technical Service Engineer
Position Overview As a Technical Service Engineer, you will be responsible to represent Service Solutions in product issue resolution. This position will work with cross functional teams to define root cause and corrective actions of product issues and report findings back to International Motors field teams and customers. This is a technical role working with our dealer network to understand field issues arising within our customers’ vehicles, working with engineering to identify a solution for trucks in both post and pre-production to ensure maximum uptime for our customers. Main area of responsibility will be Heavy Duty Vehicle Powertrains (to include diesel engines, transmissions, engine electrical systems, and other powertrain subsystems. This role may also lead to exposure on other chassis systems as well. Responsibilities Extensive Powertrain Diagnostics, Repair, Issue Tracking, and Escalation Research, develop and implement service repair plans for vehicles in the field Assist and support the launch of vehicles that provide value to our customers reducing warranty and increasing vehicle uptime. Present and report status to upper-level management of activities and issues Write technical reports and develop base line diagnostics as necessary Liaison between Aftersales Organization and other teams within International Motors Actively involved in Project Management activities Manages or review dashboards and scorecards for daily visibility around group metrics and customer needs Develop and demonstrate competencies with Problem Solving Strategies and Tools Minimum Requirements Bachelor’s degree At least 5 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience OR Master’s degree At least 3 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience OR At least 7 years of technical service engineering, automotive service or truck service experience Additional Requirements Qualified candidates, excluding current International Motors employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. International Motors does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status) Desired Skills Minimum 3 years Vehicle Powertrain Diagnostics and Repair Preferred Medium and/or Heavy-Duty truck experience Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology Understanding of vehicle software architecture and components Excellent mechanical and electrical aptitude Data processing experience Microsoft Teams and Power BI experience MS Office Proficient Excellent presentation skills and verbal/written communication skills Approachable with excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively across diverse teams Able to operate with a minimum of supervision and with an ownership mindset Familiarity with VisMockUp, CAD, Teamcenter or other engineering drawing systems Comfortable with the ambiguous and changing environment Understanding of International Service Information systems SPS/Six Sigma Certification Familiar with 8D/Pyxis ASE Certification a plus Benefits and Compensation We provide a competitive total rewards package which ensures job satisfaction both on and off the job.
