Technical Service Rep - Expert

As a Technical Service Representative, you will provide on-site support, leadership, and customized solutions for new and existing products for multiple PPG coil coating customers, travelling within your region for new launches, resolutions, updates, and customer support. You will provide assistance in application of PPG products on coil lines and their associated technology and related products.

You will work with and interact with multiple PPG teams to facilitate successful line runs of products at customer accounts, run lab trials, collect data critical to decision making, and advise customers as well as PPG production, operations, and R&D.

Responsibilities:

Investigation and reporting of a paint code and production lot history.

Primary work includes producing paint samples, applying paint samples onto desired substrates per formulation and technology guidelines and evaluating properties of both wet and dried paint samples.

Conduct experimental work (coatings formulation, application, testing) under direction of a chemist, engineer, supervisor or technical service rep.

Understand functionality of a wide array of laboratory equipment and troubleshoot equipment when necessary.

Adhere to project timelines and goals, determined by chemist, engineer and/or supervisors.

Communicate results to stakeholders and actively contribute ideas in a team environment, observes unusual results and suggests possible root causes.

Guide new products from lab into production working closely with Manufacturing and/or related areas.

Document laboratory testing results accurately and in an organized fashion.

Ensure recordkeeping through written/verbal summaries, demonstrating coatings terminology.

Track properly label panels and wet samples and associate with laboratory results.

Travel to customers for trial validation of new product formulations.

Qualifications:

HS Diploma or equivalent required. BA/BS in business, engineering, or related is desirable.

3+ years of relevant experience and a demonstrated track record in paint/coatings/chemicals or coiled manufacturing desirable.

Business sense or similar capability to lead projects and understand how they affect customers and PPG.

Basic understanding Chemistry and Algebra; strong ability to track data in Excel or similar and to interpret into real-world information.

Microsoft Office suite, Oracle, SAP, or similar ERP experience is desirable.

Must be able to follow processes, communicate effectively with customers and PPG stakeholders, and demonstrate effectiveness of new ideas (both yours and PPG), products, and technologies.

Travel 25-75% domestically.
