Made Possible.** **Summary** The PMP Technical Service Engineer provides machinery technical service, troubleshooting, repairs, and general customer support at customer beverage plants, and provides machinery assembly, testing, and development activity support at GPI Beverage Packaging Machinery Division fabrication and assembly plants. **Job Functions** + Must be prepared to travel 80%-90%, sometimes on short notice. Both domestic and international travel is required. On-call and/or weekend and overtime work may periodically be required. + Must have and maintain skills necessary and consistent with packaging machinery and carton technology offered by GPI. Responsible individually or as a team member for installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical and mechanical systems including motion control using various servomotor control systems and PLS controls. Job tasks are performed both within GPI facilities and at beverage customer locations. + Must be able to read and understand technical drawings and illustrations necessary for assembly of machines and mechanisms, electrical schematics and drawings, and pneumatic schematics. Capable of producing sketches and/or mark-ups of fabrication drawings for simple part fabrication and/or modification of existing machine parts. + Self-motivated and personable; capable of developing and maintaining productive working relationships with customers and acting proactively to improve the customer’s experience with GPI machinery and cartons. + Must be able to lead and coach for major and minor rebuilds for the Predictive Maintenance programs. + Participates in a wide variety of service, engineering, and production activities, which may include participation in customer factory acceptance tests and customer operator training at GPI machinery manufacturing facilities, GPI carton production facilities, and customer beverage production locations. + Required to participate in training program development and review of technical manuals and other machine documentation for accuracy and completeness. Suggest and implement improvements to technical training and documentation in areas of safety, operation, and maintenance of machinery. + Must communicate frequently and effectively with Engineering and with customer contacts to resolve machinery problems and maintenance issues and follow through to generate product improvements and performance enhancements and machine upgrades. + Follow proper procedures for engineering changes and follow through with required documentation after change has been implemented. + Responsible for the preparation of expense reports, service reports, and the management of incurred travel and living expenses. + Must complete all OSHA required safety training and follow PMD's safety policies. + Responsible for independently supporting regional client assignments both via Service and Sales. + Professionally handle customer phone calls during and after hours as required. + Possess all tools necessary for mechanical and electrical assembly and debug. + Other duties as assigned. **Job Requirements** + Minimum two-year, associate degree in related technical field or equivalent experience. + Fabrication skills, machine tool experience including lathe/mill/drill, welding, familiarity with hot-melt adhesive systems, and motion control experience are all a plus. + Must demonstrate, under pressure, highly effective interpersonal and communication skills when dealing with customers. + Demonstration of highly effective problem-solving skills, customer production issue follow-up. + Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word & Power Point. **Physical Requirements** + Up to 12 hours maximum standing or walking in customers facility + Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, and climbing + Moving and transporting parts crates, boxes, and kits + Navigating tight or close quarters, sometimes with tools, parts, or materials + Uncrating and organizing various parts for machines + Often lifting or moving heavy items + Safely managing heavy items overhead and /or inside of machinery + Maintaining a clean safe work environment at all times + Adherence to customer safety rules + Awareness and avoidance of industrial traffic: + Forklifts + Cranes + Overhead equipment + Conveyors + Floor sweepers + Pedestrians + Vehicles + Tractor/trailers + Lifting hoists/Jibs + Wet floors + Confined workspaces + Machinery + Hot work areas + Sparks, debris, chips, grindings, chemicals, water, soaps, etc. + Catwalks / uneven floors, platforms, and work areas + Electrical hazards + Pinch points and sharp edges + Frequent, pulling, pushing, and aligning heavy items + Safe usage of hand tools, powered tools, pneumatics, hydraulics, and lifting equipment + LOTO, PPE, OSHA safety standards compliant **Pay Range:** **$60,500.00** - **$80,600.00** **Graphic Packaging is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
