Scope of Responsibility:
The Technical Services Engineer provides assistance to engineering, production, procurement, quality, field services and end customers to support manufacturing operations, equipment integration, functional validation, problem resolution, and provide guidance and training related to power distribution, grounding, HVAC, fire alarm systems, communication and controls.
Essential Duties:
Review of design development documentation and preparation of technical drawings and specifications for Telecommunications, Fiber Edge Computing, Data Center, Utility, and Energy Storage shelters.Collaborate with engineering team, sales team, and customers to develop unique design solutions for products.Assist in creating and maintaining product support documentation including specifications, installation manuals, operation manuals and trouble-shooting guides. Support manufacturing, equipment installation, and quality testing to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.Design, implement, maintain, or improve electrical instruments, equipment, facilities, components, products, or systems.Review specifications for purchase of materials and equipment.Utilize CAD software and equipment to perform engineering tasks.Oversee project design efforts to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field of study preferred.
Experience: 3-5 years of practical experience in communications systems infrastructure, utility protection relay control systems, battery energy storage systems, solar grid tie systems, micro grids, smart grid, distributed generation, telecommunications, power substations and renewable energy preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national standards for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.Knowledge of SQL Database, API, JAVA, C++, and / or Fortran. Knowledge of MS Excel and advanced Excel formulas.Ability to travel up to 25%. Must work well in a group, or team environment.
Physical Requirements:
The Technical Services Engineer will work in a typical office type environment and as required work in a production environment, exposed to loud noise dust particles, and an indoor environment that is non-conditioned. This person will also on occasion be required to travel to project site locations for assessment, installation and troubleshooting and must adhere to all site requirements.Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and rapidly changing priorities.Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or manufacturing plant as needed.Must be able to perform physical activities that require the use of fingers, hands, and arms, such as sitting, reaching, typing, and using office equipment. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials.Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and a safety-minded individual.Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and integrate information from all relevant sources.The Engineer must regularly wear protective personal equipment such as steel-toe shoes, safety glasses, hard hats, and ear plugs.
