This position will work closely with the 242-A Area Manager to provide technical leadership, oversight, guidance and consultation to resolve complex operational issues to ensure 242-A Evaporator is operated in a safe and compliant manner. The specific duties of the Technical Specialist will include but are not limited to the following activities: * Taking a leadership role in resolving and closing a variety of issues related to Conduct of Operations, Engineering, or Safety Management Programs. *Working independently to ensure adherence to technical policies and guidelines. * Understand the technical safety requirements for the project and how these requirements are implemented. *Assist facility management with corrective action plans. * Oversee scheduled project work and drives the resources, parts, and paperwork necessary to meet task readiness and coordinates/leads the field work through to completion. * Represent multiple project teams in status, integration or other meetings. * Advise management of developments that could impact project scope, cost and schedules. *Provide input and participate in programmatic improvements related to 242-A Evaporator operations. * Understand the principals of Conduct of Operations. Implement and mentor Conduct of Operations in the field to support continuous improvement. * Provide mentoring and coaching to bargaining unit personnel * Perform periodic oversight and/or review of the Integrated Safety Management System program to ensure its effectiveness and applicability. * Maintain awareness of project conditions and promptly notify management of any unusual or unexpected circumstances. * Perform other duties as assigned. Please Note: This position is being advertised under the current Tank Operations Contractor, Washington River Protection Solutions (WRPS). However, now that transition activities have begun a candidate selected for employment may be hired under the incoming contractor, Hanford Tank Waste Operations & Closure (H2C) contract. Further details will be provided during the hiring process. Required Qualifications Grade 20: * BA/BS in Business, Project Management or related discipline with ten (10) years experience or combination of education and experience Grade 21: * BA/BS in Business, Project Management or related discipline with twelve (12) years experience or combination of education and experience *Note the essential duties for this grade level are like that of the previous grade level, however the scope of responsibility is larger, and the expected level of performance is increased. Desired Qualifications -Past or present nuclear facility experience. -Detailed technical, engineering, and operations knowledge is preferred.
