Corning’s Display Technologies segment manufactures glass substrates for active matrix liquid crystal displays (“LCDs”) that are used primarily in LCD televisions, notebook computers and flat panel desktop monitors.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS MS or PhD in Glass Science, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering; preference for expertise in solid mechanics, fracture mechanics or FEA (finite element analysis) of brittle materials.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preference for 5 years of industry experience; can be substituted for university research experience. REQUIRED SKILLS Wide range knowledge glass science and technologies. Strong preference for individuals that enjoy innovation and aspire to be leading display technical expert. Ability to operate in highly matrix organization with multiple reporting structures. Ability to collaborative across functions; pulling in needed skills from research, development, engineering, commercial and manufacturing. Strong problem-solving skills, ability to stay calm under difficult situations and communicate clearly across organization. Solid mechanical modeling experience as plusDESIRED SKILLS Preference for hands-on approach to problem solving and innovation.
