Technical Specialist HLA | Histocompatibility | Days | Full-Time
Overview FTE: 1.0 Shift Hours: DAYS Days of Week: MONDAY-FRIDAY Oversee technical operations in the clinical lab, including technical support of laboratory operations, problem resolution, technical development and procedure implementation, purchasing, etc. Supervises accessioning preparation of specimens for analysis, analysis, and post-analytical functions. Performs analytical procedures when required. Participates in Virtual Crossmatch on-call rotation and provides on-call technical support for the HLA Team. Responsible for Quality Assurance functions, including data collection, analysis and reporting. Assumes operational responsibility during Manager's absence. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science; OR Bachelor Degree in a physical, chemical or biological science with 90 semester hours of science and completion of an AHCA approved training program Five years of experience as a Medical Technologist is required; at least one-year in a lead or supervisory position, preferred CHT(ACHI) or CHS(ACHI) certification and experience in a reference laboratory or hospital laboratory supporting solid organ and stem cell transplants, preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration: Must possess a current license as a State of Florida Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the appropriate lab area or be eligible for a temporary license ASHI-ACHI certification is strongly preferred Temporary licensure must be permanent within one year of accepting the position; if not, the position is automatically forfeited Must obtain security clearance via a FBI criminal background check; if not, the position is automatically forfeited Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "non-frequent driver" NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
