Technical Superintendent – Marine Electrical System
Provide direct supervision and technical expertise relating to maintenance and repair work performed on rig electrical equipment and control systems. Review maintenance tasks and schedules within the Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) SAP/AMPS to ensure that the equipment functionality, reliability, availability and performance are optimized. Advise rig and regional personnel on troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of rig electrical systems to maximize uptime. Develop and distribute repair standards for electrical equipment, assist in developing Noble Standards for repair and replacement of equipment. Review and update Master Data Change Request (MDCR) and alerts and bulletins.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Provide immediate trouble shooting assistance via phone, internet, web-based applications until the support team arrives on site or the issue is resolved.Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting of Automation, Navigation, Power & DP Systems for floater and jack-up fleet.Review SAP / IFS (CMMS) maintenance tasks & update where required.Demonstrate the ability to effectively use a root cause analysis program/protocol such as Taproot, 5 Why, Cause Mapping, Fishbone, etc.Lead and/or participate in Root Cause investigations and prepare reports and action items from the findings.Review alerts and bulletins (TAB); prepare recommendations for the fleet and assist with the distribution across the fleet.Provide direct and indirect supervision and technical expertise to rigs and regional maintenance teams for technical, maintenance, repair and installation activities. .Assist with technical support through review of technical drawings and documentation, witnessing Factory Acceptance Testing, and Vendor Quality / Technical Capability Audits.Visit Noble rigs and audit quality and methods of maintenance being performed and provide formal reports to management.Provide technical consultation for rig shipyard / upgrade projects, marine system start-up / commissioning and service agreement as required.Meet with outside vendors to investigate failures, research upgrades, develop repair and maintenance procedures/protocolsKeep abreast of equipment costs and obtain equipment quotes as required.Leads marine electrical technical support in the absence of the manager.Interface with all departments in the performance of job functions and assist as directed.Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in electronic / electrical engineering from a recognized University or institution with 10+ years plus of experience in a technical support function.As an alternative, an Electrical or Electronics Technician Trade School Diploma with 15 years progressive experience and responsibility in electronic / electrical control, networks and instrumentation systems specific to DP (Dynamic Positioning), power generation, power distribution, power electronics, power management system and marine operations.10+ years’ experience with DP2 and 3 rig control systems specific to DP FMEA and Kongsberg or GE power management system with 11KV split and/or closed bus operations.Working knowledge of computer networks and network components used in control systems, Vessel Management, Fire and Gas detection and alarm, and UPS systems.Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment in hazardous areas and regulation IEC, IEEE, API etc.Familiar with electrical engineering and installation standards including IEC, IEEE, API, IMO MODU, SOLAS, and class regulations (ABS, DNV).Good understanding and working knowledge of API requirements and recommended practices for drilling units as applicable to electrical, electronic, electro-hydraulic control systems.Good understanding of commonly used condition monitoring techniques (CMS / CBM) such as: thermographic, ultrasound and vibration analysis.Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), vendor site visits & evaluations, and equipment construction and repair surveillance as directed.Experience with installation, start-up, and upgrade of Electrical / Electronic systems for the entire vessel. The project experience in a closed bus system design / implementation is preferred.Good knowledge and understanding of Reliability, Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM), Predictive and Preventive Maintenance, and Condition-based Maintenance; CMRP/SMRP preferred.Fully acquainted with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS); IFS preferred.Experience in a supervisory role directing maintenance personnel and support organization a plus as Chief technical supervisor lever or above.Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and other appropriate software.Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.Demonstrate the ability to use common test equipment, hand tools, and safety equipment.Travel is an essential job function (est. 35%, domestic, international and offshore); expectations can be up to 40 days on location on a 12/7 schedule while deployed.
