Job Description We are recruiting for a Technical Superintendent for one of our Canadian clients operating a fleet of bulk cargo vessels in the Great Lakes region.
The Technical Superintendent will oversee vessel maintenance, repair, and operational efficiency.
It is essential that you have the right to work in Canada and that you are easily able to travel to the US for vessel inspections and dry docks.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage shore-side support for vessel maintenance and repairs, coordinating contractors, regulatory surveys, and classification society inspections. Work closely with vessel officers to monitor the mechanical and structural status of assigned vessels. Assist in preparing winter maintenance budgets and long-term capital improvement forecasts. Lead efforts to improve vessel efficiency and reduce operating costs. Supervise Chief Engineers on assigned vessels and support fleet operations. Qualifications:
College Degree in Marine Engineering or Marine Transportation (preferred). Minimum of 5 years' supervisory experience in ship maintenance/repair or senior marine engineering roles. We welcome application from anyone with a 4th Class / 3rd Assistant Motor License or above. Strong organizational skills with experience in managing multiple projects. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and ABS Nautical Systems preferred. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team leadership abilities. Physical Requirements:
Must be able to board vessels and work in confined spaces. Eligible to travel within the U.S. and Canada. Willingness to travel 20-40% of the time. Why Join this company?
