Technical Systems and AV Analyst

The technical analyst facilitates the implementation and administration of data integration, management, and reporting. Moreover, the incumbent processes security access to relevant systems and reviews the flow of data from various subsystems into the general ledger. The technical analyst also participates in month-end and year-end fiscal processes. They will provide audio-visual services and systems support in conference rooms, seminar rooms, offices and other learning spaces.  Additionally, the technical analyst sets up, operates, maintains, and repairs equipment used to enhance live events, such as microphones, projectors, lighting, and sound mixing equipment. This employee also records meetings and presentations, adjusts amplifiers, coordinates graphics used in displays, and provides technical support for teleconferences, webinars, and distance-learning classes.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                 

1. Analyzes customer’s issues, defines problems, and reconciles to technical solutions.

2. Acts as data custodian and systems administrator for the department pertaining to requests involving access to relevant systems.

3. Assists with the development, testing, and implementation of new interfaces.

4. Reviews the subsystem control log for accuracy and completeness according to system requirements.

5. Updates the month-end closing and parameter changes.

6. Updates and maintains mechanical journal entries after coordination of set requirements.

7. Maintains and troubleshoots relevant systems’ interfaces.

8. Uses data collect screens to verify pending data collect batches.

9. Inputs journal entries into the FRS or other applicable system during critical times.

10. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

11. Assists faculty and speakers with the use of audio-visual devices and presentation software.

12. Ensures that equipment used for presentations is correctly configured and operating properly.

13. Coordinates and facilitates audio visual resources with external customers .

14. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment and software malfunctions in a timely manner.

15. Arranges for and supervises both periodic maintenance and repairs of all audio-visual equipment.

16. Records presentations.

17. Provides group and individual training related to the use of University audio-visual equipment.

18. Documents and maintains procedures related to the use of all audio-visual equipment.

19. Keeps all audio-visual equipment areas neat and well ordered.

20. Ensures that audio-visual equipment is kept current and meets the changing audio-visual

needs of the University.

21. Keeps abreast of current audio-visual technologies and practices.

22. Works with IT staff to maintain a listing of all University audio-visual equipment.

23. Coordinates with IT staff to ensure that proper levels of audio-visual consumables are kept in stock.

24. Recommends improvements to classrooms and other learning spaces.

25. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

26. Attend meetings, trainings, and walk-throughs as requested and required.

27. Assist with audio-visual inquiries.

28. Coordination and setup of live Zoom meeting and webinar events with customers and vendors.

29. Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed.

30. Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs telecommunication equipment and data and voice cabling, including voice over IP equipment, cabling for fiber-optic and cable TV, and UPS.

31. Assembles telecommunications racks and wire management.

32. Assembles and deploys uninterrupted power supplies.

33. Performs the installation, troubleshooting, configuration, and repair of network communications

equipment, according to written and graphic specifications.

34. Conducts routine maintenance of network equipment supporting University’s network data systems.

35. Utilizes test equipment in the analysis and correction of technical problems for data communication lines and equipment.

36. Interacts with other departments to obtain technical specifications concerning job sites and requirements.

37. Provides analysis, relays results, and offers support to assure proper escalation during periods of substandard system performance or outages.

38. Advises supervisor or senior personnel of network failures or degradation and assists in the modification or correction of the same.

39. Completes work order incidents.

40. Maintains documentation for wiring and devices.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS                    

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required

Experience: 

Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

• Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

• Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

• Experience with a variety of audio, visual, and multi-media equipment required including but not limited to Crestron, Dante, Extron, QSC, Biamp, Shure, Zoom, Teams, AV over IP, Apple TV and other integrated AV equipment.

• Experience working with a variety of customers in a customer service environment required.

• Basic computer networking comprehension and configuration skills.

• Experience working with macOS, Microsoft, iOS and Android operating systems.

• Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.

• Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.

• Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions.

• Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.

• Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.

• Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.

• Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.

• Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
