POSITION SUMMARY

This position trains and certifies Heavy Duty Truck Service Technicians on Vendor- and OEM-certified courses.  This position will develop training programs and assist Service Technicians in developing their skill and knowledge of Heavy Duty Truck Systems. 

            

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Effectively presents training subject matter in both “classroom” and “hands-on” environments.  Utilizes a variety of training methods including in-person, webinars, workshops for both individuals and groups.  Creates training programs and courses according to organizational requirements.   Prepares related training materials to include presentations, worksheets, handouts, and course workbooks.   Ensures all course content is relevant, revised, and up to date.  Achieves and maintains Trainer Status with all OEM business contacts that offer these programs.   Maintains all required certifications updated and current.Develops and Documents Safety protocols and audits Shop Safety when onsite.Reports all accomplished training to the Human Resources Department for tracking and posting.Confers with operations management for training feedback, wrap-up meetings, and other discussion to improve the effectiveness and impact of training.  Presents Training Plans, activities, and progress to Executive Team regularly (quarterly at a minimum).  Works with OEM representatives as needed to ensure training content is current.  Performs special projects and other related duties as assigned by leadership.

 QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School Diploma or GED.   Additional relevant training is a plus.Full Certification in all required areas.  Extensive experience in Heavy Duty Truck Service Operations – can train from experience.Previous training experience, demonstrating the above essential duties.Knowledge of modern training techniques and tools, including adult learning principles, long-distance learning, and learning technologies 

  

REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES 

Ability for regular overnight travel to company locations (60% – 80% of the time)Experience in designing and delivering technical course content.Ability to identify training needs and develop appropriate solutions.Working knowledge of MS Office (specifically PowerPoint) and technologies that support long-distance learning (MS Teams, etc.)Outstanding communication skills (speaking, active listening, explaining, and the ability to discern any roadblocks for others to learn new material/concepts.Advanced training skills, including presentation skills to a variety of audiences, knowledge of adult learning principles, the ability to keep an audience engaged, and the patience/tact to successfully deliver learning to a diverse audience.Excellent organizational and time management abilities.Represents the company in a positive, professional manner in appearance and words/actions.
