**Who We’re Looking For**
Toyota’s Technical Training department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated **Technical Training Engineer** .
The primary responsibility of this role is to research, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate state-of-the-art technical training core and new technology curriculum for Toyota and Lexus dealership technicians. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders, including development teams, to gain consensus on content and design.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in instructional design, project management, and excellent communication skills.
Reporting to the Supervisor of Technical Training, the person in this position will research, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate the training as the technologies enter the market. This will include, but is not limited to, developing course outlines, project timelines, online training storyboards, instructor guides, presentations, illustrations, videos, hands-on vehicle demonstrations, and written and demonstrated skills assessments.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
Research, design, develop, deliver, and evaluate state-of-the-art technical training for Toyota and Lexus dealership technicians. Key activities include conducting needs assessments, analyzing training requirements, researching new vehicle system technology, and developing competency-based Instructor-Led and online training solutions. The role also involves creating and maintaining various training materials, conducting pilot activities, and providing industry support through test-writing workshops and presentations at conferences. Additionally, the engineer is responsible for evaluating training courses, troubleshooting issues, and analyzing learner performance data to improve retention and curriculum needs
+ **Research** : Conduct needs assessments, analyze training requirements, and research new vehicle system technology to create effective learning solutions. This includes analyzing warranty claims, field technical reports, technical assistance hotline calls, and customer relation reports.
+ **Design** : Design competency-based Instructor-Led training (ILT) and engaging online training (OLT) solutions. This involves managing course direction, development team activities, and timelines, as well as Travel to Region/Private Distributor technical training centers and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to gain consensus and ensure the accuracy and relevance of the training content.
+ **Design:** Manage content and training aid development projects with various vendors, including development of Scope of Work documents, draft timelines, draft content and/or scripts, and sprint meetings to monitor progress **.**
+ **Develop** : Create and maintain core technical training course materials, including online training storyboards, instructor guides, technician worksheets, PowerPoint presentations, graphics, videos, and assessments. Review course feedback and make necessary adjustments.
+ **Deliver** : Coordinate, travel to regional/area training centers, and conduct pilot activities to evaluate course design. Coordinate, travel to regional/area training centers, and conduct train-the-trainer (T3) events where new or newly revised course materials are presented to Service Training Specialists (STS).
+ **Evaluate** : Perform activities to comprehend, evaluate, and audit training courses, troubleshoot problems with training materials, analyze learner performance data, and conduct retrospectives to improve course development and project management processes.
+ **Industry Support** : Assist in ASE test-writing workshops for automotive industry certification, Travel to and conduct training and presentations for industry conferences, meetings, and trade shows including ASE, ETI, MACS, ATMC, AYES, T-TEN, Skills USA, and others.
**What You Bring**
+ Bachelor's degree in automotive technology, vocational (technician) education, Instructional Design, or equivalent work experience
+ Experience in developing curriculum, with in-classroom teaching experience and training the trainer.
+ Strong automotive diagnostic skills
+ Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems (LMS) such as Articulate or other tools.
+ Work experience showing strong interpersonal skills, relationship building, and ability to gather constructive criticism
+ Ability to present in front of large audiences effectively
+ Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple stakeholders.
+ Proficient in MS Office Suite
+ Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
+ Strong organizational and time management skills.
**Added Bonus If You Have**
+ Master’s degree in automotive technology, Instructional Design, or Adult Education
+ ASE Master Technician certification
+ OEM dealership experience and certification
+ Toyota/Lexus Region or Area Office experience
+ Certification in project management (PMP, CAPM, or similar).
+ Strong understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies
