Job Purpose
The Technical Training Manager (TTM) is responsible for ensuring the identification, development, implementation, delivery and evaluation of technical training and support. This must ensure accurate reporting and compliance to relevant legal, statutory SAFed and UKAS skills accreditation requirements within the engineering division.
In addition to the above, the TTM will actively lead the development and standardisation of processes in conjunction with relevant stakeholders to continuously improve (quality, output, cost and efficiency) ensuring critical handover points across functions are managed, the processes meet and are operated to compliance standards and the processes are audited periodically.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide the appropriate level of support to the Engineering teams, ensuring the HSBEISL is compliant in all technical training and compliance matters aligned to the QA standards.To liaise with the Principal Engineers, Regional Engineering Managers & Operations Mangers to ensure the technical training requirements of HSBEISL are complied with.To ensure that all processes and procedures with respect to training and competency meet the requirements of ISO/IEC 17020 and support with any UKAS assessment and surveillance meetings / requirements. Support continuous improvement initiatives which add value to the business by fostering an accountability culture ensuring high standards of service and efficiency.Provide support and manage development within the TTES team. Responsible for the effective and timely review of training needs analysis including the review of training material as necessary in order to adapt to changes occurring in the work environment.Regularly undertake gap analysis of skill set whilst informing stakeholders of development requirements and implementing a plan to support business objectives. Undertake regular full competency review of all Engineer Surveyors (ES) ensuring information and data is correct whilst addressing any issues and reducing any risk exposure. Ensure accurate data is held and maintained within the competency database. Support H&S Manager with safety improvements and initiatives. Ensure any documentation relating to Technical Training are regularly reviewed with key stakeholders in accordance with QA requirements. Support external partners (e.g. SAFed) where required. Manage and operate training requirements effectively whilst identifying opportunities for improvement and growth. Continually review budget and expense management whilst seeking alternative sources for improved providers and delivery methods. Organise inductions for new starters ensuring the content is related to skillset of ES whilst ensuring alignment with operational and budgetary requirements. Management of apprenticeships and apprentices. Active lead with apprenticeship program and educational providers whilst implementing regular apprentice progress reviews, implementing action plans with stakeholders and support with EPA. Governance for all technical training and assessments ensuring all records and competency certification are up to date and satisfy Company requirements. Support with recruitment initiatives including development activities. Provide valued integration with onboarding ES with support of Talent Acquisition ensuring induction, training, assessments and release to operations is streamlined against ES skillset. Manage and organise technical training courses (both internal and external). Support training in relation to all engineering projects and products. Create and maintain strong interpersonal relationships within an inclusive working environment whilst remaining available and approachable to all stakeholders and receptive to new / innovative ideas.
Skills & Experience
Previous experience in technical training manager or closely related role.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Leadership skills to inspire and motivate others.Proven experience with liaising with various stakeholders at varying autonomy whilst supporting strategic initiatives. Effectively manage conflict, misconduct with appropriate escalation. Effective presentation skills and experience organising, delivering and review of training courses.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree or HND/HNC in an engineering qualification. Or,Bachelors degree in business management / human resources / business administration or related field. Or, Other qualifications may be considered based on experience.
