Join us! **Job Summary** The Technical Training Officer, Engineering, Signals and Communication (S&C) is responsible for training S&C employees through the entire S&C Apprenticeship Training Program and Communication Technician Programs, as well as providing updates and refresher trainings to existing employees. The incumbent is required to train, mentor, coach and qualify employees on various S&C techniques. Additional tasks include maintaining training facility equipment, job aids and scheduled maintenance records. Competencies are achieved through classroom courses, practical exercises, and on-the-job training. The primary role will be to fill Communication Technician training delivery, with support of Signal Apprenticeship Training Program delivery. **Main Responsibilities** **Training Delivery** · Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the creation and update of training materials · Provide training to employees through classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and training exercises · Maintain an understanding of how to practically apply skills related to S&C equipment · Evaluate trainees’ ability to demonstrate tasks proficiency · Administer and grade exams · Complete performance and qualifying documents and ensure all training events are captured in the Learning Management System (LMS) · Carry out other engineering-related training as needed **Maintain and Upgrade Facility Equipment** · Assess functionality of laboratory equipment prior to training · Repair all malfunctioning laboratory equipment **Develop Comprehensive Training Plan** · Collaborate with Managers and Senior Managers to determine and identify functional training needs · Develop training delivery plan · Establish training delivery schedule designed to meet training needs **Working Conditions** The role has standard working conditions in an office environment with a regular workweek day shift from Monday to Friday, with possibility of occasional weekend or off-shift training. The majority of time will be spent delivering training at CN’s campus training facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The role requires minimal travel (less than 20%) to carry out field training and quality audits. **Requirements** **Experience** Signals & Communication · Between 5 to 10 years of S&C experience o Experience as a Signal or Communication Supervisor* *Any experience for these above would be considered as an asset **Education/Certification/Designation** · High School Diploma or General Educational Development · Qualified as an S&C Maintainer or S&C Technician · Valid Driver’s Licence · Any additional education in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or other related field such as Physics or Mathematics* *Any designation for these above would be considered as an asset **Competencies** · Leads by example for the safety and security of all · Considers environmental impacts in every decision and action · Collaborates with others and shares information · Promotes diversity and equity · Sets direction and inspires others · Develops self and others **Technical Skills/Knowledge** · Strong knowledge of CN’s S&C department and field operations · Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint · Knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP) as well as S&C Inspection System (SCIS)* · Proficient in Learning Management Systems (LMS)* · Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal (English, French)* *Any knowledge for any of the above would be considered as an asset **About CN** CN is a world-class transportation leader and trade-enabler.
