Technical Writer – IT Ops

+ We are seeking Technical Writer as contractor that will create and revise technical documents such as policies, procedures, technical diagrams, and workflows for IT Operations, Infrastructure, and other IT services as needed.
+ The selected candidate will solicit the information necessary from subject matter experts to draft complete new or update existing documents that will be subject to review and approval by department leadership.
+ They will be responsible for recommending best practices for centralizing and standardizing the organization policies and procedural documentation and facilitating its creation.
+ The Writer will employ and enhance quality standards utilizing best practices for technical writing and documentation management.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Reviews and updates documents including existing policies, procedures, and technical runbooks.
+ Outlines and drafts procedural documentation such as standard operating procedures and process diagrams.
+ Determines the type of publication that will best serve the requirements.
+ Meets with team leads and subject matter experts such as engineers and administrators to learn about specific products or processes.
+ Researches industry/product samples to fully understand a system or process and develop the appropriate level of documentation.
+ Assesses the audience needs for whom the technical and procedural documentation is intended; adjusts tone and technical terms used to meet those needs and to ensure understanding.
+ Plans writing processes and works with supervisor to set timelines and deadlines.
+ Creates or works with supervisor and team leads to create diagrams, charts, and other visual aids to assist readers in understanding a process or application.
+ Gathers feedback from subject matter experts and team leads to improve technical documents.
+ Performs other related duties as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**
**Formal Education & Experience**
+ Bachelor’s degree in English, communications, technical writing or related field required.
+ 5+ years of experience of technical writing to include creating new documentation in various technical disciplines.
+ Certifications are highly desirable.
+ Ability to work independently across different teams.
+ Ability to interact with senior leadership.
+ Provides recommendations and guidance on best practices for technical documentation.
+ Proven experience:
+ Creating, modifying, and assessing technical documentation.
+ Performance as a senior technical writer.
+ Demonstrating initiative, good judgement and the ability to achieve results.
