Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Technical and Functional Writer to join our documentation team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation for software products, with particular focus on user guides, deployment guides, release notes, and documentation for software releases. The candidate should be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information, understand software features, and produce high-quality documentation tailored to end-users, system administrators, and other technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:

1. User Documentation: Write and maintain comprehensive user guides and manuals that effectively explain software features, functions, and workflows for end-users. Work closely with product managers, developers, and quality assurance teams to ensure that user documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with the latest software releases. Ensure user documentation is accessible, easy to follow, and visually appealing, with the use of screenshots, diagrams, and examples as necessary.
5. Deployment Guides: Develop and maintain clear and detailed deployment guides for software solutions, covering installation, configuration, and setup processes for end users and system administrators. Provide step-by-step instructions for setting up and deploying software in different environments, including pre-requisites, environment configuration, and troubleshooting tips.
8. Release Notes: Write and edit release notes for new software releases, updates, patches, and enhancements. Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure that all new features, bug fixes, and known issues are clearly communicated in release notes. Tailor release notes for different audiences, including customers, developers, and internal teams, providing relevant technical details while ensuring clarity.
12. Software Release Documentation: Document and maintain release-related materials for software products, including version histories, features, functionality, and known issues for each release. Maintain version control of all documentation to ensure consistency across releases and track changes over time. Provide clear explanations of complex technical changes, ensuring all stakeholders (internal and external) understand the implications of each release.
16. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers, QA testers, and subject matter experts (SMEs), to gather technical information and ensure documentation reflects the latest product features. Participate in sprint meetings, project reviews, and product development cycles to stay updated on new features, functionality, and release timelines. Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand documentation needs and priorities.

Documenting Software Features: Work with product teams to document new features, functionalities, and changes in software products, ensuring accurate technical content for both internal and client-facing documentation. Create detailed technical documentation for complex system configurations, workflows, and integrations.
23. Quality and Consistency: Maintain high standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy in all documentation materials. Review and revise documentation based on feedback from internal teams, customers, and stakeholders. Ensure that all documentation adheres to company style guides, templates, and best practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical writing or functional writing, with a focus on creating user guides, deployment guides, release notes, and software release documentation. Experience in writing documentation for software products in a technical or SaaS environment, with a strong understanding of technical concepts and features.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Adobe FrameMaker, Microsoft Word, Confluence, and Google Docs. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) to track and manage documentation changes. Ability to write clear and concise documentation that is accessible to both technical and non-technical users. Understanding of software release processes, deployment procedures, and integration setups.
• Functional Knowledge: Strong understanding of software deployment processes, system configurations, and cloud environments. Ability to understand complex technical workflows and translate them into easy-to-follow documentation. Experience in documenting for different audiences: end-users, system administrators, and developers.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional written communication skills, with an emphasis on clarity, conciseness, and accuracy. Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accuracy and consistency in large sets of documents. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure documentation requirements are met.


Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and experience working in Agile environments to produce and update documentation.
• Experience working with technical support teams and understanding of client-facing documentation processes.
• Knowledge of XML, HTML, or other markup languages is a plus.
• Prior experience in documenting for Insurance industry.
