The Technical Writer collaborates with authors in creating high-quality program documentation, provides them with the necessary training, and develops and maintains customer-centered resources and templates.
Core Responsibilities:
Documentation Development and Standards:
Create and maintain comprehensive business-critical documentation including SOPs, work instructions, and technical guides while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policiesDevelop and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, taxonomies, and metadata frameworks across the programLead documentation review cycles and manage stakeholder feedback through established channelsProcess Analysis and Improvement:
Analyze documentation inputs and workflows using structured methodologies to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and risksApply analytical thinking to evaluate processes, propose data-driven solutions, and implement documentation best practicesDrive continuous improvement in documentation processes and methodologies through user research and effectiveness validationProject Management and Collaboration
Manage multiple documentation projects while maintaining quality standards and meeting deadlinesCollaborate with stakeholders across all organizational levels to document, visualize, and optimize processesPrioritize work based on customer impact, business needs, and strategic objectivesLeadership and Reporting
Mentor team members on technical writing best practices and documentation guidelinesTrack and report on documentation metrics and project statusLead initiatives to enhance documentation processes and systemsRequired Skills and Qualifications:
Technical Skills:
Expert-level writing, editing, and proofreading abilities with strong attention to detailAdvanced proficiency in documentation and process mapping toolsWorking knowledge of content management systems, version control platforms, and basic web technologiesAnalytical and Process Skills:
Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities for complex, scientific problem-solvingExperience in process analysis, workflow optimization, and documentation streamliningAbility to gather and analyze user requirements and feedback effectivelyBusiness Acumen:
Understanding of business process improvement methodologies and industry compliance requirementsAbility to align documentation priorities with business objectives and track performance metricsPersonal Attributes:
Strong customer service orientation with excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to interact effectively with all levels within a large organizationAdaptability and self-motivation with proven ability to work both independently and collaborativelyEducation and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or related fieldLean Six Sigma Green Belt certificationMinimum of 5 years of technical writing experience in a business environmentRelevant certifications in technical writing or process improvement methodologies (preferred)Location:
