Position Title: Technical Writer Location: DEA HQ Arlington, VA (Hybrid Remote – 3 days onsite per week) Clearance Level Needed: Minimum of a public trust with eventual secret clearance Salary: $75K-$85K Contract Length: 2.5 years Job Description: We are seeking a skilled Technical Writer to join our team in support of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and maintaining technical documentation to aid DEA in analyzing large volumes of data related to enforcing controlled substances laws and regulations. This role will involve working closely with various teams and stakeholders to ensure the production of clear, concise, and accurate documentation. Duties and Responsibilities: + Gather, analyze, translate, and compose technical information into clear, readable documents for use by both technical and non-technical personnel. + Create and maintain a variety of technical documents, including user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports. + Edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, and other customer deliverables and documents. + Conduct research and ensure the use of proper technical terminology. + Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate technical information. + Maintain documentation version control and adhere to established documentation standards. + May supervise or mentor junior technical writers as needed. Requirements: + Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience. + Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a technical writer, preferably in a related industry. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills. + Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other documentation tools. Desired Skills & Experience: + Experience with at least 75% of the technical description outlined in the job description. + Knowledge of data analytics, data sources and collection, data displays and dashboards, data standardization, and data quality. + Familiarity with the DEA mission and controlled substances laws and regulations. + Experience working in a hybrid remote environment. + Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
