Summary:

This position will primarily support the Federal Service Division through writing various materials to support capture of new federal business, (i.e. responses to RFIs, SSs, RFQs, and RFPs), white papers, newsletters, and other business communications. Writing assignments are focused on the company’s scope, field of operations, past performance, etc., often within extremely tight deadlines. Understanding of proposal writing style, business acumen, and the security field are crucial. Most writing assignments
are deadline driven.
This position assists with proposal coordination as directed to ensure responses are developed on time and in compliance with client requirements. Will be responsible for maintaining databases of responses, boilerplates, resumes, and past performance information.
Secondary writing and editing tasks will include the collection, development, and writing of stories for the Walden Report FSD Edition; editing other materials as requested.
Experience in project management would be helpful to keep projects on track and within timeline and scope. Writing skills and use of technology are important. The ideal person will be able to handle pressure well and thrive in a deadline-driven environment. Ultimately, you will ensure our content is onbrand and adds value to existing and potential customers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Research project background or other information and conduct research in order to obtain relevant information on requirements. Work with existing boilerplate and rough draft material from subject matter experts and convert into high-impact content for proposals.  Develop and write proposals in response to formally written solicitations (RFPs, RFIs, SS (market survey), etc.)  Edit and proofread documents for grammar, style, and content.  Attend RFP meetings, discussing key requirements and strategic approach.  Liaise effectively as a leading member of the proposal team.  Assist or direct consultants or other subject matter experts (SME).  Work with the department to develop, edit and maintain documents, presentations, communications and other projects as assigned.  Monitor, support, or attend all production phases of the project to maintain consistency, provides overall quality control including completeness, color correction, formatting, accuracy, tabbing,
binding, packaging, and compliance with proposal submission guidelines. Performs all other duties as assigned by the Proposal Manager.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Technical Writer reports to the Proposal Manager, or another assigned manager. This job
has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, English, Marketing, Communications, or other related fields.
• Graduate Degree or substantial technical, proposal, editorial and/or grant writing experience (be able to provide samples of work).
• Basic, intermediate and / or advance Shipley BD/Proposal understanding
• Proven track record and ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations using English language.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations, respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, other employees of the organization and the general public.
Ability to write simple correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions and percentages.
Ability to apply concepts as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only
limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Office Suite, Sam.gov, and GovWin.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
 Will be eligible to participate in company continuing education program to gain future certifications.
Valid Drivers' License
