About the team

Dialpad’s Technical Writer will take ownership of creating and managing technical documentation to enhance internal collaboration and external engagement. In this role, you’ll combine your technical expertise, communication skills, and organizational abilities to create content that empowers engineers and ensures seamless knowledge transfer.

Dialpad’s Engineering team plays an essential role in driving innovation, maintaining system reliability, and supporting cross-functional teams with technical insights. This team collaborates closely with Product, Design, and Support to improve internal processes and deliver exceptional user experiences.

Your Role

As a Technical Writer, you’ll own the development and organization of Dialpad’s documentation repository, ensuring that internal and external resources are consistent, accessible, and impactful. You’ll work closely with engineers and technical stakeholders to gather information and translate it into comprehensive, user-friendly documentation. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the creation of materials that support both internal team workflows and external product understanding.

This position reports to our Director of Engineering and is based in our Bangalore, India office. The position will require a hybrid working arrangement based out of our Bengaluru office.

What you’ll do

Own the end-to-end documentation process, including gathering requirements, drafting, reviewing, and publishing content. Make high-quality internal-facing documentation, such as system design overviews, technical processes, and API guides, with occasional contributions to external-facing materials. Partner with engineers and cross-functional teams to ensure documentation reflects the latest developments and best practices. Research and implement improvements to the organization and accessibility of Dialpad’s documentation repository. Establish and maintain consistent documentation standards across teams.

Skills you’ll bring

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Technical Writing, or a related discipline) or equivalent practical experience. 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in the software or technology domain. Strong ability to distill complex technical information into clear, concise, and accessible documentation. Proven experience managing and organizing large documentation repositories using tools like Confluence, GitHub, or similar platforms. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering and cross-functional teams.
