Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is currently looking for an experienced Technical Writer to fill a 3 year assignment in downtown Birmingham, AL.
JOB DESCRIPTION 5-10 years of experience in technical writing and communication. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to understand product details and requirements. Research, write, edit, and proofread technical data to produce clear and concise documentation for technical and non-technical users. Create, maintain, and update user manuals, technical manuals, online help systems, training materials, and other technical documents. Use illustrations, diagrams, and charts to increase users' understanding. Ensure consistency in content by adhering to company style guidelines. Manage updates and revisions to existing documentation. Translate technical terminologies into text that can be easily understood by the target audience. Gather user feedback on documentation to improve usability. Stay updated with the latest documentation tools and best practices. Participate in product development meetings to stay informed about upcoming changes and product releases JOB SUMMARY This position is a technical resource who will assist with publications within the Safety and Health Department. This individual will consult and collaborate with project stakeholders to plan, design, develop, and produce publications that enhance employee comprehension and are appropriate for the intended audience. Publications may include but are not limited to policies, procedures, guidelines, manuals, emails, memos, meeting transcription reports, presentation slide decks, executive summaries, and “one-pagers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Transcribe meeting minutes during safety incident investigations and create succinct reports based on the minutes in a timely manner. Review and edit safety program guides, guidelines, procedures, and forms for consistency and readability. Write safety communication and engagement materials, such as presentations, emails, memos, alerts, and safety topics. Attend and provide on-site support for employee safety events. JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree or higher is preferred Must demonstrate behaviors consistently high Values, Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of grammar, style, punctuation, and editorial principles. Demonstrated ability to understand complex information and communicate the information to people with diverse professional backgrounds. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Experience with SharePoint and Teams is strongly preferred. Organizational and time management skills to ensure timely completion of work. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interface with project stakeholders ranging from executives to field personnel. Demonstrated ability to work independently, as well as under direct supervision or in a team environment. Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills; ability to visualize stakeholder needs. Familiarity with safety and/or engineering terminology is a plus.
