Canon Business Process Services has an excellent, work from home opportunity. This role can be based in Schenectady, NY, Atlanta, GA, Greenville, SC or Houston, TX.

The Technical Writer will be responsible for reviewing technical documents to develop, write, and edit a broad range of technical content. The Technical Writer must be able to understand complex scientific information, theories, and practices in addition to possessing strong writing skills.

Responsibilities

Duties to be performed:             

Review and understand arrangement, assembly and schematic drawings/diagramsReview and compare Bills of Materials (BOMs) for New Product Introduction (NPI) including new units and new outage toolingReview and compare mechanical configurations to revise GT maintenance procedures or create new ones based on design enhancementsWrite, revise, proofread, review, standardize, and digitize GT disassembly, inspection, repair, and reassembly procedures and inspection formsCollaborate with Productivity Engineering to update Field Procedures as required for NPI tooling developmentCollaborate with regional Field Engineering teams to simplify and improve Field ProceduresMaintain revision control of created and/or revised procedures and documentsCreate procedures based on standardized templatesConvert legacy/previous formatting to latest formattingWork with databases, digital libraries and workflow systemsCreate One-Page sign-off Field Procedures affecting gas turbine maintenance outages, Field Engineers (FE) and Craft LaborConvert existing FP’s into “fillable PDF” format, enabling mobile devices and simplifying/digitizing outage document retentionApply and maintain metadata tags on created/revised documents. The tags are used in the Master Index search, which is used by over 10,000 FE’s and operations personnel to locate the documents in the Library. Keep library and master index in sync.Self-sufficient interaction with multiple design teams/engineers to secure content necessary for procedure creation/revisionGraphics: Experienced in creations and modifications of Fields Procedures, Forms and other documents Qualifications Gas Turbine maintenance and/or assembly experience. Field Engineering background or GT manufacturing experience.Formal training in document creation and revision control, basic Work Flow Form. Experience in writing technical procedures or documentsMicrosoft Product knowledge and demonstrated skill setExpertise in MS Word, Excel and Adobe to edit/fix/publish/format the documents. Perform formatting, administration, and publishing tasksGraphics: Experienced in creation and modification of Field Procedures, Forms and other documentsAssociates Degree in Technical writing or High school diploma with 2 plus years in technical document design, compliance to standards and printing industry.Strong English language communication capability, both verbal and written
