We are looking for a driven, customer-focused Technical Writer who is looking to own and drive our product documentation initiative for our flagship product - Private Cloud Director. You will own our documentation initiative and collaborate with engineering, product management, technical marketing and support and customer success teams to ensure that our product documentation is up to date and of superior quality. You will become a product expert and teach our customers how to be product experts in a self-service manner. You will review other’s documentation with an end goal of technical accuracy, completeness, and intuitive well structured language. This role reports into our VP of Product.
Job Responsibilities:
Help write documentation for new product features.Organize existing documentation into a logical flow.Implement a standardized nomenclature across our documentation, build reference guides to teach other contributors. Build a high degree of understanding of our products, use that to create exceptional documentation for our customersCollaborate with product management, engineering and customer success to identify existing documentation gaps, and work towards closing them. Measure and review customer feedback on our documentation weekly, address with priority. Review questions asked on forum / slack channel and use that information to identify documentation gaps, then work towards closing them Identify cross linking and / or reposting opportunities between product documentation and blog posts / community / forum posts and other technical marketing materialRequirements:
3+ years of experience in technical writing. Excellent written and verbal communication skillsDetail oriented, proactive, energetic, and customer focused with a passion to set our customers for success with superior documentationEnjoys discovering customer use cases, identifying gaps and resolving issues in the product documentationExperience working on complex projects and multi-tasking / handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously Experience structuring technical information to be easy to discover, navigate, and understand. Experience with markdown and git / github or an equivalent version control systemTo succeed in this role you’ll need to be a team player with a strong sense of ownership for your work and a passion for working in a data driven organization.
