Technical Writing Manager, Google Distributed Cloud
Minimum qualifications: + Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent practical experience. + 10 years of experience creating content for technical audiences (e.g., developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks). + 4 years of experience in people management in enterprise development environments. Preferred qualifications: + Experience building high functioning teams and providing team members with career growth opportunities and coaching. + Ability to develop deliver a short- to medium-term strategy for a technical writing team or organization, including adjusting that strategy as needed in response to changing priorities. + Ability to build relationships and alliances with cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership. Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience. For US applicants: The US base salary range for this full-time position is $153,000-$227,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Learn more about benefits at Google (https://careers.google.com/benefits/) . + Lead and manage the roadmap, planning, and execution of the Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) documentation strategy. + Build consensus, direction, and passion within the team and across collaborating organizations. Work within timelines and product launches. + Work with Product Managers, UX researchers, and User Interface partners to identify the critical user journeys and create information architectures that help customers through those journeys. Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration. + Mentor and support the writers on the GDC iX team. + Balance multiple, engaging priorities in a fluid, dynamic environment.
