Overview of the Role
Reporting to the QC Supervisor, the QC Lab Technician in this position will be responsible for the analysis of raw materials and finished products, HACCP monitoring and providing support to the Packaging Department.
Schedule: Sunday-Thursday: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. or 10 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Hourly rate: $29.52

Monitors plant personnel practices and plant environment/equipment for adherence to GMPs; coaching plant personnel as needed to educate employees per observed deviations.Monitor various testing performed in the plant per specific requirements affecting product quality (example oxygen testing, leaker testing) and food safety (sanitizer station concentrations, CCP monitoring and verification).Collect and analyze product samples throughout the plant and equipment.Conducts chemical, microbiological and organoleptical analysis on raw materials, finished goods and by-products.Be responsible of raw material and product sampling and grading based on documented parameters; assess the food quality on production lines.Performs data entry, summarizes results.Initiate, maintain and resolve: ingredient, packaging or product QC Holds when needed.Lead the team and assist supervisors to resolve issues and control food safety and quality risks.Complete QC shift reports summarizing deviations noted during a shift per a scope of entire facility.Communicate testing results and provide troubleshooting suggestions.Investigate customer and consumer complaints.Maintains and calibrates lab equipment.Ensure that all work is performed safely while following OH&S, WCB and Company regulations and procedures.Understanding of good laboratory practices, including Microbiological sampling, and plating techniques.Other duties as needed per the scope of Quality Control, Sanitation and /or Food Safety and Food Quality within the facility.You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:
Food Processing, Food Science or Microbiology Related bachelor’s degree or Science degree or diploma with two (2) years in a food safety and quality role is required.Previous laboratory or quality experience preferred.Understanding microbiological, chemical, physical, and sensory properties of food products and factors affecting food quality.A good knowledge of aseptic sampling, microbiological testing and other food testing.Ability to process microbiological results and interpret results with analytical methods.Ability to focus on food quality, food safety, OH&S and building teamwork while addressing issues and bringing forward resolutions (example: coaching employees on various issues that could be brought forward as concerns)Accuracy and attention to detail.Strong organizational and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to multi-task and work well under pressure.Ability to perform with minimal supervision.High level of initiative.Computer literateAdditional Attributes:
