Technician, Lead Trainer

What You’ll Do:

 Tests, services, and repairs tractors, trailers, engines, and related mechanical components. Serves as leader to other technicians. Executes training programs for a shop with less than 15 Technicians, as set forth by the Regional and Corporate Training management team to guarantee safe, accurate, and timely preventative maintenance or repair of equipment in the shop.

Responsible for all training of shop employees to maximize their efficiency, productivity, and development.Assists and trains Technicians in troubleshooting, servicing, and repairing tractors, trailers, and related mechanical componentsServes as the primary trainer of technicians; developing and executing custom training plans for each employee.Works closely with Shop Manager and Supervisors to ensure success of the training program while not disrupting ongoing maintenance operations. Executes new technician on-boarding process in coordination with Shop Management. Assists in the development and upkeep of corporate maintenance skillset training program.Assists with non-technical training such as leadership, conflict resolution, and other “soft skills.”Assists with the shop preventative maintenance audit program as required.Facilitates maintenance of company standards.Makes certain all technicians under their lead are working safely.Tests and repairs electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, ignition, and electronic fuel injection.Disassembles and assembles equipment.Cleans tools and parts.Changes tire and wheel assemblies.Discusses problems with other technicians to discover faults, listen to engines, fit and operate special test equipment, and test driver vehicles.Carries out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs.Repairs or replaces worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear or other small parts; dismantle them and check parts, referring to manuals as necessary.Reassembles, tests, cleans, and adjusts repaired or replaced parts or assemblies; use various instruments to make sure they are working properly and put them back into the vehicle.Diagnoses, repairs, and replaces engine management/fuel injection components.Inspects vehicles and issue roadworthiness certificates or list the work required before a certificate can be issued.Performs other duties as assigned.
