Performs non-destructive inspection (NDI) on in-service, repaired and manufactured aircraft assemblies and articles for defects, utilizing Magnetic Particle (MT), Fluorescent Penetrant (PT) methods in accordance with the FAA Repair Station and manufacturers’ requirements.
§ Performs NDI within the requirements of Certified Level 2 in Magnetic Particle (MT) Fluorescent Penetrant (PT),
§ Accepts or rejects product, according to documented procedures,
§ Conducts analysis, tests and evaluation of various materials,
§ Selects and applies established analysis procedures for conduct of fracture analysis, transmission, scanning, electron microscopy studies, metallographic analysis physical and NDT test,
§ Ensures all metals and processes used are serviced by the activity conform to quality, structural and functional requirements,
§ Conducts internal audits and book audits
§ Modifies established programs and coordinate extensively with others in order to accomplish work assignments
§ Sets up and calibrates equipment to conduct test and interpret, evaluate and document results in accordance with procedures
§ Maintains responsibility for the overall NDI program
§ Performs other duties as assigned

Fulfill the requirements of 14CFR145 subpart D: paragraphs 145.155, Inspection Personnel Requirements),o Fulfill the requirements of NAS410 for Trainee, Level 1, or Level1-Limited in the applicable NDI method
Fulfill the requirements of NAS410 Level 2 in the applicable NDI methods,§ Thorough knowledge of:
Microsoft office basics,Non-Destructive testing methods,Industry and Aircraft quality practices and standards,Standards and specifications utilized by the company,Scope and limitations of the method,Magnetic Particle Fluorescent Penetrant test methods§ Skill to:
Follow and understand guidance from a level 2 or 3 technician,Read and understand written techniques related to the NDI method in use,Communicate, using written and verbal skills,Read blueprints, drawings, and Manufacturers component maintenance and overhaul manualsLearn industry-related software,Set up standardized equipment used in the performance of NDI,Set up test, conduct tests and interpret, evaluate and document test results in accordance with approved procedures,Develop written techniques to be submitted for Level 3 for approval,Perform technical writing§ Obtain NAS410 certification in Magnetic Particle and/or Fluorescent Penetrant within 3-6 months of hire and demonstrate acceptable progress during this time period, including the successful completion of certification exams:
A minimum 40 questions closed book written examination on general principles for each NDI method certification sought,A minimum 30 questions open book written examination on specific knowledge of specifications, codes, equipment, procedures and techniques utilized for each NDI method certification sought,A practical examination consisting of a demonstration of proficiency in the use of the procedures, equipment and materials, along with the adherence to procedures, evaluation and documentation of results,§ A composite test score of 80% is required with a minimum of 70% for any single exam
§ Successfully pass annual regulatory vision requirements
§ Education/Training:
