Scope of PositionExpected to perform primary role as pollution abatement technician in support of Fiber Operations Glassmaking at Sullivan Park facility. The employee will be responsible for the daily operation, maintenance and monitoring of all Fiber Operations pollution abatement scrubbers and supporting systems, maintaining documentation for NYSDEC permitting and reporting, and accommodation of all related audits and inspections.
Day-to-Day ResponsibilitiesOperate full functionality of Pollution Abatement equipment in support of Fiber Operations. Control all aspects of process, including but not limited to, scrubbers, supply water, Reverse Osmosis operation, wastewater, Evaporators and Bag House processes. Expected to perform normal maintenance and initial troubleshooting of all related equipment. Perform modifications to equipment as required by process. Perform daily walkthroughs, sensor calibrations, update documentation, understand and maintain equipment SOS’s and SOP’s.
Hours: 40 hours per week, primarily 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with flexibility based upon project and equipment usage requirements, as well as availability for emergency call-ins.
Requirements 5+ years mechanical that includes minimum 2 years pollution Abatement experience. Minimum 2 years’ experience operating two stage vertical scrubbers. Proficient in operating and maintaining reverse osmosis process equipment. Experience in Chemical handling, to include chemical specific processes and piping. Experience with NYSDEC environmental audits. ISO14001 requirements and audit experience. Mechanical aptitude and ability to independently function in a ‘hands-on’ role. Ability to understand and follow complex, multi-step instructions. Ability to work cooperatively with employees from multiple functions and process areas. Attention to detail and ability to maintain rigorous processes. Desired Skills Good communication skills (verbal and written). Computer literacy and the ability to use tools within Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Knowledge of manufacturing/production operations and scheduling requirements. Familiarity with large, complex processes and infrastructure requirements for such processes.

The range for this position is $56,284.00 - $77,391.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
