Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

Seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Technician – Geological Services to support and assist the company in its pursuit of exploration and discovery of Au-Cu deposits in the Philippines. The role will report to the Senior Geologist – Exploration.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

Participate in geological field surveys and mapping exercises under the guidance of senior geologistsAssist in collecting geological samples, such as rock cores or soil samples, for laboratory analysisFollow safety protocols and guidelines during fieldwork activities, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)Conduct maintenance activities by following established standard operation proceduresConduct routine maintenance activities in a timely mannerApply string fault finding and diagnostic capabilitiesComplete required data collection processOperate drilling equipment according to basic safety protocolsIdentify basic drilling issues and report them to supervisors;Prepare drilling equipment and documentations before conducting drilling works

QualificationsBehaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold WayHigh school graduateAt least one (1) year of experience as Core/Field TechnicianWith a National Certificate (NCII) in DrivingWith a valid Professional Driver’s LicensePreferably with experience in forklift operationKnowledgeable in Corebox naming, core meterage, magnetic susceptibility and pXRF readings, core orientation, core cutting, sampling interval, core sampling, sample preparation and dispatchGood communication skills both oral and writtenDrive for continuous improvement and innovation
