Responsibilities:
Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including compactors, excavators, loaders, dozers, and other heavy construction equipment as well as agricultural equipment including tractors, combines, balers, sprayers, tillage equipment, and plantersRespond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performedMaintains a clean and safe work area, adhere to all safety proceduresFollows standard operating proceduresCleans and organizes equipmentAttends formal trainingAssists to prepare new equipment for rent or saleProvides assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed in regard to troubleshooting repairsPerforms other duties as assigned/requiredMaintains paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basisDocuments labor, addition of segments, assuring that work order can be closed and billed as communicated with the customerPositively interacts with manager and team members to satisfy customer needsCommunicates effectively with customers, both internal and externalQualifications:
2-year technical degree or high school diploma/GED and several years of comparable shop mechanic experience2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience preferredWorking knowledge of hydraulics, transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, electrical, and fuel systems; working on Caterpillar and/or AGCO, Challenger, LEXION, Sunflower, or White Planters a plus but not requiredPersonal attributes: attention to detail, efficiency, problem solving, planning and organization, team playerWritten and verbal communication skillsBasic computer skillsOwn mechanic tool setAbility to maintain safe and clean work environmentThis role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to a drug test as a pre-employment requirementMinimum physical requirements:
Push/pull up to 50 lbs
Lift/carry up to 60 lbs
Lift bulky objects
Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.
Working Conditions may be indoor and/or outdoor. Noise level may be loud at times.
