Responsibilities You will perform technical support for the research, development and manufacturing of energetic materials and related systems. You will support inter-divisional and interdepartmental efforts regarding the design, fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair of production systems and equipment used to manufacture and test energetic materials. You will provide quasi-professional engineering work of a technical nature for the department and branch on moderately complex equipment utilizing vacuum, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, electronic, and mechanical components. You will provide cost estimates on potential upgrades and system improvements for both labor and materials. You will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, calibrations and troubleshooting of electronic equipment, to include presses and mixers, nitrating equipment, resonant frequency acoustic mixers, HVAC equipment, and dehumidification systems. You will assist equipment technical engineering staff with reviews, requirements, modifications, and repairs of production equipment. You will assist teams with electrical/electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic system maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and modification. You will provide design data, references and other pertinent information to engineers and technicians and assist investigation teams with determining causal factors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications NT-03: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-02 (GS-05-08 equivalent) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reviewing technical engineering procedures by applying engineering principles and methodologies to provide technical support of the design, development, testing, troubleshooting or repair of manufacturing equipment while ensuring compliance with safety or technical requirements. NT-02: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NT-01 (GS-01 to GS-04 equivalency) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector reading and interpreting technical drawings, diagrams, or specifications to perform technical engineering work (e.g. design; troubleshooting; or maintenance and repair of production systems and equipment) for an organization. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. FOR THE NT-02: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics. OR A combination of experience and post high school education as described above that equates to one year of experience. The percentage of the required education plus the percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent. Additional Information This position is located in the Energetics Manufacturing Branch, Industrial Support Division, Equipment Maintenance and Repair Branch (M32). This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
