All veterinary students Year 1-4 eligible
Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre is currently welcoming dependable veterinary students to work as Technician Assistants with our team. This position is for on-call services, after hours within the Surgery Department. The role will assist with:
Patient and OR
Assist with patient preparation for surgery,
Scrub in to assist with surgery and assist the surgeon as required
Cleanup of the OR and instruments once surgery is completed.
All veterinary students must have a valid ABVMA student licence.
Additional responsibilities and attributes required;
Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patient and pet parents
Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients
General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas and common areas
Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments
Exceptional client service skills
Compassion and nurturing attitude
Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
Ability to adapt in changing situations
Efficient in carrying out assignments independently
Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day
Schedule:
Rotating on-call schedule is dependent on number of members in group. The average number of on call shifts can vary from 3 - 8 shift per month.
Weekday: Overnight 12 hour coverage (18:00 - 6:00)
Weekend: 24 hour coverage (18:00 - 6:00 & 6:00 - 18:00)
