Under general supervision performs high quality echocardiograms and vascular ultrasounds following ICAEL and ICAVL accredited guidelines. Individuals in this position will work closely with Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and Radiologists. Must be able to exercise initiative and independent judgment. Technician must be knowledgeable of techniques and patient positioning to produce high quality ultrasound images. Individuals in this position must be able to exercise independent judgment and initiative. Work with all segments of patient populations, including adults, and geriatric patients. There is the potential for infections from contact with infected patients. Also, there is possibly some contact with processing chemicals and other hazardous materials. Work hours can, at times, be irregular with the need to accept overtime and being on call. The work is physically demanding with the need for a lot of standing, bending, and lifting.
Job Description
The Echo Ultrasound Tech is responsible for applying imaging to include proper machine settings, transducer selections and additional imaging. This individual must be knowledgeable of techniques and patient position to produce high quality ultrasound images. The Echo Ultrasound Tech is responsible for providing care to patients in all settings in collaboration with other interdisciplinary personnel. An Echo Ultrasound Tech should have knowledge of human anatomy and spatial relationships of all cardiac and vascular structures.
The Ultrasound Tech must exercise initiative and independent judgment, correlate cardiac and vascular images on particular body structures so that reading physicians are provided with adequate diagnostic information, learn new procedures/operate new equipment, work efficiently, accurately, and methodically.
The position consists of taking call one week a month and working one Saturday a month. It also assists in helping to cover other shifts when needed.

Must be registered in one modality and become registered in the other modality within 6 months
