Job Title Technician I Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Lubbock Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Lubbock, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description The Technician I, under general supervision, assists in planning research on support laboratory methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results for a series of closely controlled experiments. Responsibilities:-Conducts experiments and technical procedures. Carries out research problems.-Assists with planning and supervising technical operations.-Makes complex chemical and physical analyses which, although they follow standard procedures and tests, may require the exercise of some ingenuity and improvisation.-Uses computer equipment for controlling equipment and compiling data.-Makes and records observations and measurements.-Writes and/or edits for publication of scientific materials requiring academic knowledge.-Researches and catalogs reference materials requiring an understanding of subject matter theory.-Orders scientific supplies and equipment. -Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: - High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Two years of related experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Knowledge of laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus, and computer equipment. -Ensure attention to detail. Able to multitask and work cooperatively with others. -Excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Significant travel required. All positions are security-sensitive.
