The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Calibration Technician for our location in Abbott Park, IL. In this role the candidate will be responsible for performing calibration functions on all testing and measuring equipment throughout all manufacturing operations. This position impacts upon the accuracy of the company's measurement and process equipment, subsequent product quality, and is essential to meeting Quality Systems Requirements and other compliance requirements. The Calibration Technician performs precise calibrations per written procedures on measuring and testing equipment, tools, gauges, and fixtures as defined by the calibration schedule. On equipment that cannot be maintained internally, coordinates the calibration with a certified outside source. Maintains clear and concise records to facilitate timely problem identification, development of department procedures, and to comply with internal and external regulations.

What You’ll Work On

Perform multi-discipline calibrations on measurement systems.

Generate equipment specification documents for calibration standards.

Automate single discipline calibration functions.

Select standards for system calibration procedures based on tolerance accuracy ratios, specifications and measurement uncertainty.

Use automated electronic calibration processes.

Research calibration standards.

Submit change orders. Research simple repair situations and determine action steps.

Troubleshoot and repair or replace out of tolerance devices. Perform analysis for repair prevention.

Use and order tools and specify and order parts with attention to safety precautions.

Generate and review out-of-tolerance reports.

Use calibration data base systems including history tracking and recall and overdue reports.

Use computer software specific to calibration.

Document calibration tasks.

Provide formal training to equipment users and other calibration technicians. Research and answer user technical measurement questions.

Perform data analysis and report on equipment measurement studies.

Establishes priorities of work assignments.

Required Qualifications

High school education/equivalent and two years of qualifying experience

Comparable military service training may be acceptable if it is directly applicable to the job assignment

Two or more years of electrical, electronic, mechanical and optical theory and related test procedures to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and modify various types of M&TE

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred requirements are an associate degree in electronics technology/equivalent or 2 years trades training/equivalent

The base pay for this position is $28.20 – $56.40 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
