Job Description
Performs flash X-ray set up and system operation. Assignments involve procedures and techniques related to proper sequence of powering up and presetting instrumentation, pneumatic systems, and high voltage circuits. Duties and Responsibilities * Proper sequence of powering up and set up of digital scanning systems, emplacement of film cassettes in accordance with predetermined fiducial markers; proper techniques for loading/unloading of storage phosphor screens from blast cassettes; and proper techniques for loading, scanning, and clearing storage phosphors through digital scanning systems. * Knowledge of fiducial systems and geodetic survey techniques to complete initial set up and/or rebuild/repair of test fixtures including film plane and tube head alignment. * Uses mathematical formulas and trigonometric principles to calculate pitch, yaw, and velocity of various test projectiles. * Designs required test fixtures for specific test functions. * Attends planning meetings to determine test requirements, personnel, and logistics. * Determines requirements for flash X-ray system and fixture design according to verbal or written communication from test officers or test sponsors for range set up. * Communicates with test sponsor and test officer to ensure data quality and timely test completion. * Designs and creates working drawings for flash X-ray test fixtures, film planes, tube head mounts, bomb proofs, etc. * Designs and fabricates film and blast cassettes from wood, poly, and hardware using common hand, power, and shop tools. * Required to repair/rebuild flash X-ray pulsars including troubleshooting of high voltage circuits using factory manuals, meters, probes, and specialized tools. * Maintains equipment calibration and expendable supply levels. * Specifies future equipment requirements for X-ray testing. * Follow set procedures for data collection, storage, archiving, and delivery to customer. * Reviews test data to ensure accuracy and quality.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications * Must have 5 yr. of applicable experience or at least 60 credit hours or an Associate’s Degree and 3 yrs. applicable experience; or 30 credit hours and 4 yrs. applicable experience; or completion of a formal training program and 3 yrs. applicable experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree and 1 year applicable experience. * Shall possess basic computer skills. * Shall possess Flash X-ray technology, systems, and imaging training/Seminar. * Shall be Respiratory Protection qualified, to include medical screening, fit checks, and Respiratory Protection Training, as dictated by Mission requirements. Physical Qualifications * The work of this position is performed in the field where you are subject to the environment and sometimes in an environmentally controlled office environment. * Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. * Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time. * Must be capable of lifting 25 lbs. unassisted. * Must have good manual dexterity. * Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned. * Reasonable accommodation can be made to enable people with disabilities to perform the duties and responsibilities.
