About Lihir

Our Lihir Operation, located on the beautiful island of Niolam, approximately 800km north of Papua New Guinea's capital, Port Moresby, is one of the world’s largest gold mines. Set within a geothermically active, extinct volcanic crater, Lihir operates an open-pit mine producing refractory ore, which undergoes pressure oxidation and conventional leaching to recover gold. Our workforce includes both residential and commute rosters, creating a diverse and dynamic team. Lihir offers a range of recreational facilities, including a gym, sports club, restaurant, bar, swimming pool, tennis and squash courts, and a 9-hole golf course. Purpose

 

Our Lihir operation in the Reliability Condition Monitoring unit is now recruiting for the role of Technician - Lubrication. Reporting to the Supervisor – Condition Monitoring/NDT, the successful candidate will carry out day-to-day Process Plant lubrication tasks ensuring that all equipment lubrication schedules and analyses are attended to regularly.

The role will have the following responsibilities but are not limited to:

 

Ensuring that the lubrication schedules and analysis are carried out in a timely and proactive manner to the required safety and maintenance standardsTaking ownership of all lubrication activities and equipment reliability and performanceMaintaining an effective working relationship with other maintenance sections and departmentsContribute to the continuous improvement process by recommending solutions to equipment or any reliability issues and assisting the maintenance team with the implementation of maintenance strategy and system initiativesLiaising with maintenance supervisors and assisting them during oil change out/servicing of equipmentEnsuring compliance with \"CHESS\", environmental policies and procedures

 

Qualifications, Training & Experience

 

Trade Certificate in mechanical fittingMinimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a heavy industry preferably a fixed plant environmentGood understanding of lubrication techniques.A demonstrated track record in problem-solving skills together with an aptitude to solve technical difficultiesGood knowledge of computing (e.g. SAP, MS Office Programs, etc.)Must be a 'team player'Good written and oral communication skills in English

Must be open to FIFO in PNGRoster 22:20Ability to complete a pre-employment medical assessmentMust have proof of a completed Police Clearance within the last six months
