Technician-OR Scrub

Position Summary: Under the supervision of OR Department management the OR Scrub Tech will assist the perioperative care team in many aspects of patient care, including but not limited to; preceptoring, patient care, care of the environment, transportation of patients, supplies, and equipment, cleaning; restock and orders supplies; setup equipment; uses good judgment and behavior; uses equipment, materials, and systems according to policies and guidelines to deliver safe and effective patient care.  

Responsibilities:

Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure Scrubs, gowns and gloves Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed Gowns and gloves surgeon and assistants Helps in draping sterile field Passes instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedure Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure Prepares sterile dressings Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of room Assists in prepping room for the next patient

Qualifications: 

Required:

Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques involved in performing OR services and adapting or modifying standards of practices for care of specific medical cases Completion of a certified scrub technician program. Certified Surgical Technologist, LPN or EMT licensure required or two or more years of direct scrub related experience in hospital, surgery center or military background can be substituted for CST, LPN or EMT credential BLS certification required or must complete BLS certification with in the first two weeks of employment Additional certification may be required for certain patient care settings or populations. Specific information and the timeframe in which such certification must be attained will be provided by the department director/manager/supervisor at time of hire/transfer into department. 

Infection Control: Initial and Ongoing training in dealing with infection control. Trainings could include but are not limited to, blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids and bio hazardous materials as it applies to your daily work environment.
