Technician - Rental Services Level III
Description Position at MacAllister Rentals

Position Summary

This position will perform advanced mechanical repairs and or maintenance of all rental equipment in the shop.

Position Duties/Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities:

Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failuresRebuild, repair, and maintain equipment and componentsThoroughly understands the operation, function, specifications, capabilities and controls of any piece of rental equipmentCompletes all documents associated with repairs in an accurate and timely mannerAdhere to manager’s and lead mechanic’s directions regarding all repairs and service callsAdheres to all safety rules and maintains quality housekeeping in work areaAssist Lead Technician or Service Manager with mentoring, training, and coaching as needed

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No formal responsibility for supervising others

Position Requirements

Required:

High School Diploma or GED6 years or more of work related experience with heavy equipment preferably with an equipment rental company or Caterpillar/Allied equipment and/or in a position with a working knowledge of hydraulics, powertrain, electronic/electrical systems etc.

Preferred

Certificate acquired through a vocational or technical schoolClass B CDLMust have required shop hand tools

Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, non-verbal, listening and presentation skills.Able to articulate specific equipment problems in details to management, peers and/or customersStrong customer service skills with basic prospecting skills and the ability to meet and/or exceed customer expectations.Ability to overhaul or recondition on major components to OEM specificationsAbility to recommend corrections to component failure or issuesA strong knowledge of the product and a good knowledge of the product market with a strong respect for the Caterpillar/vendor influenceThe ability to uphold professionalism with both internal and external customers, including personal appearance and friendly, courteous treatment of peers, subordinates and customersExcellent mechanical aptitudeExcellent problem solving, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures and guidelines and basic understanding of warranty administration.Moderate computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Office. Moderate experience using data base systemsA working knowledge of safety rules, laws and regulations concerning engine service, hydraulics, electrical, technical functions of various components and tooling procedures and capabilitiesSelf-motivated with the ability to work with little or no supervision and achieve required goals and objectives
